Mr Desai is a natural scientist and an attorney-at-law. He has a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Botany and Zoology from UWI, a Masters of Marine Management from Dalhousie University, and he was called to the bar in 2010. Krishna spent eight years with the Natural Resources Conservation Authority and the National Environment and Planning Agency where he advised on coastal zone management issues, monitored natural resources, and regulated physical development. He has also worked for the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea where he advised on climate change and carbon management issues. He has experience working as an independent environmental consultant in Jamaica and the Eastern Caribbean providing regulatory advice, and writing management plans and environmental impact statements in connection with resort and marina developments.
Krishna is currently partner at a major law firm in Kingston where he also has specialty practices in environmental, planning, energy, and maritime law. He also assists a California based charity to identify conservation projects that are in need of funding in Jamaica. Along with maintaining his membership with the JIEP, he is also recognized as having Practitioner grade qualifications by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (United Kingdom), and he is also a member of the Jamaican Bar Association.
This is Mr Desai’s fourth term on the JIEP council.
