Sean Townsend has been a member of the JIEP since 2007 and has served on the Council as Secretary (2008 -2010) , Treasurer (2010 -2016) and Vice-President (2016-2018). He is currently employed to the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) as the Manager of the Natural Resources Management and Environmental Planning Department. Sean specialises in coastal resources management. One of his primary goals has been using sound environmental management to implement sustainable development practices at the UDC.
Sean holds a BSc in Zoology and a PhD in Marine Science with a concentration in Oceanography (Bio-physical) from the University of the West Indies. Dr Townsend has over 10 years’ experience in the public sector focusing on natural resources management, invasive species management, environmental policy framework development, environmental education and information dissemination. Currently, he sits as the Chair of the National Invasive Alien Species Working Group. In his free time he enjoys yoga and a good glass of wine; a Netflix binge is always good too.
